Adnan: 2015. Model of Religion Education for Preschool Children in the Sambas Malay Family.
The preschool children usually known as golden age stage. In golden age the growth and the development of children is so fast, include the development of children’s intelligent. Based on Bloom, Osborn and White’s research the development of children’s intelligence reached 50 % in the 4 years old, 30 % in the 8 years old, and 20 % for about 20 years old. The result indicated that the education of preschool children is so important and need a serious care. But in reality, the parents in the Malay Sambas think that the preschool children don’t need a serious education because the children are not able to get a full concentration when they study.
From the phenomena above, this research was focused on: Model of religion education for preschool children in the Sambas Malay family. The purpose of this research is to find model of religion education for preschool children in the Sambas Malay family. To reach the purpose above, so these researches use a qualitative research with phenomenology methods. The research’s data collected from the parents who have a preschool children at the eight regency which the Malay ethnic as a main etnic and have more population, like Sambas regency, Pemangkat regency, Tebas regency, Sajad regency, Sejangkung regency, Paloh regency, Galing regency, and Tangaran regency. Data collection technique uses an interview, observation, and documentation. After all data have been collected, the next steps is analyzing and the result is discussed in the Focus Group Discussion with the figure of religion, the figure of custom, and the chief of Malay ethnic.
The result of analyzing based on data and based on the Focus Group Discussion formulated in the research conclusion as: 1) There are three purposes of religion education for preschool children in the Malay Sambas family, ideal purpose, inter-mediate purpose, and immediately purpose; 2) The program of religion education for preschool children in the Malay Sambas family have three aspects: Aqidah (belief), pray and moral; 3) The process of religion education for preschool children in the Malay Sambas family have three aspects, there are methods, learning sources, and time to educate the children. There are three methods that can use by the parents, shows a sense, point pronunciation, and shows behavior. Then the learning sources are a story book with an interesting picture, Iqra, book of praying collection, al- Qurân, picture, poster, mobile phone, television laptop, VCD and the other playing equipment of children. About the time, all the free time that parent have, it is better if the time is after a west prayer and before the children sleep; 4) The evaluation that used by parents in Malay Sambas to educate preschool children is a direct evaluation and indirect evaluation.
